Dear Parents and Carers,
Further to my email earlier today, I am writing to inform you that with immediate effect, Boxmoor will be closed from tomorrow, except for our vulnerable children and Critical Worker children.
Thank you to all Parents and Carers who have completed the form I sent out earlier with regards to vulnerable children and Critical Worker children. There are still a significant number of forms still to be completed, so I would ask that you do this immediately, so that we can make the appropriate plans at school.
Arrangements for Vulnerable Children and Critical Worker Children from Tuesday 5th January
If you have indicated that either Parent is a Critical Worker or your child is vulnerable then your child should attend school at their normal time in the morning. They will also finish school at their normal staggered time. This may change once we establish how many children are attending school and we will inform Parents and Carers if this is the case.
All other preventative measures sent out in my earlier email today still stands with regards to the safety of the school community.
Children should come to school as they would do if school was open for all children; wearing their relaxed school uniform, bringing a packed lunch if they need to, wearing a warm coat to go outside etc...
Arrangements for children carrying out online learning at home
We have a detailed plan of the online learning offer for our children in case schools should have to close. Being informed at 8pm that schools are having to close with immediate effect is not helpful to get the work sorted ahead of first thing tomorrow morning. I hope that Parents and Carers understand that teachers will need some time in the morning to arrange the learning which will be uploaded to Google Classroom. There will be some work for your child to complete by lunchtime tomorrow and I will send out the online learning offer going forward from Wednesday and what Parents, Carers and Children can expect at home.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support whilst we get our heads around this announcement this evening. I am sure that like me, you are upset to hear that the steps have been taken to close schools again. But I hope that this will be the last time these drastic measures will have to be taken. I long for the day when we can all be back together as one school community.
I will of course continue with my weekly communication to you all and please, if you have any questions with regards to this school closure then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Take care everyone and stay safe.
