I am sure you want to join me in extending our thanks for the spectacular contribution that the outgoing committee has made to the lives of our parents, teachers and pupils alike over the last 2 years. They have certainly left enormous shoes to fill. I am confident that we will do justice to the legacy that Andy, Don, Jules and Jenny have left behind.
A new PTA Committee was elected at the beginning of the 2016/17 academic year, and you will find that we, our Year Representatives, and all the other parent and teacher volunteers involved with creating and maintaining such an active and welcoming community at Boxmoor Primary School are very proud of the success we have.
Your new committee is:
Chair - Mark Simpson
Vice Chairs - Paul Tuohy & Howard Fountain
Secretaries - Lucy Richardson & Faith Donohoe
Treasurers - Matt & Helen Hadfield
Your PTA has solid foundations. Andy and his team have created a philosophy with fun at its heart, and this is something we will strive to continue. And the PTA is clearly about more than that. It's about building and nurturing our profile in the community, it's about having pride in our school and its contribution, it's about being a school and a PTA that you want to be a part of.
And if we can get these things right, as a set of dedicated parents and teachers, we will also raise invaluable funds which will enhance our children's time at Boxmoor Primary School.
Your Committee is just a small part of an extended network of Boxmoor parents and teachers getting stuck in and trying to make a difference. We will be arranging events throughout the year, but if you want to see something different, or want to put your unique stamp on school life, please let your Committee know. If you can still give time and energy this year, or you feel ready to get involved for the first time, please let us know.
Seek us out in the playground, or through email: firstname.lastname@example.org or twitter: @boxmoor_PTA
Your PTA and Committee is really looking forward to a great year ahead.
So what have we done during 2015/16?
We raised £10,000 through various initiatives including (profit in brackets):
David Doyle (local estate agent) had now become a commercial partner to the school and paid a net £1300 (after flags and towels with their branding had been made for events), they are also sponsoring a new football strip.
To date this had been spent on:
Bank reserves are currently being built up to fund the rebuilding of the school playgrounds.
So how can you help?
If you feel you would be willing to help in the work of the PTA, whether on a one off basis or on a more regular one, please contact the Chair of the PTA through the school office. Joining the committee is a good way of getting to know other parents and being involved with the life of the school. Children too appreciate their parents’ involvement.
